Polar Express FAQ

Q. What are “Story Times”?

A. Story times are designated times that you reserve to view our Conductor read The Polar Express! Each reading has a set time, place, and capacity. Once a reading time is booked for its max capacity, it’s closed for additional guests. The reading times fill up fast, so be sure to snag yours right away! In each reading, you can expect the following:

  • A seat for your child close to the Conductor

  • A reading of the Polar Express by the Conductor

  • A visit from Santa at the end of the reading

  • A special gift from Santa at the end of the reading

Q. Can I change my Story Time?

A. Before the date that the tickets are mailed out, yes! Just give us a call and we’ll try to accommodate the best we can. Keep in mind that Story Times do fill up, so the Story Time that you request might not be available!

If you wish to switch out times and already have your tickets in hand, simply bring them in and we’ll accommodate you to the best of our ability!

Q. Do I have to purchase a Story Time?

A. Nope! You are welcome to purchase tickets for your family with no Story Time on them. That being said, there is no discount on price ticket.

Q. Oh no! I’ve lost my tickets! Can I still come?

A. Yes! Not to worry! When you check in at the front desk on the day of the event, please mention this, and we’ll get you all situated!

Q. Can I just purchase tickets for my children and drop them off?

A. This event is designed for both the caregiver and child to experience, so, no, you will have to remain with your child at all times. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of fun things for everyone at The Polar Express!

Q. Can we take pictures with Santa?

A. As we all know, Santa is a pretty busy man! You may take a picture with Santa on your way out the door, but please be speedy, he has a lot of places to get to!

Q. Do I have to buy a ticket for my infant?

A. If you have a child 12 months or younger, you do not have to purchase a ticket for them UNLESS you wish to get a souvenir ticket, in which case it would be the full price for a child.

Q. I’m a Kid Time member, and I would like to buy some tickets for me and my friends, but they’re not members. Do I still get the member discount?

A. Yes! As long the person purchasing the tickets is a member of our museum, they will receive the member discount for their entire transaction, regardless of if the tickets are for non members.

Q. This event seems like a blast to work at, can I help at all?

A. Yes! In fact, we’re currently looking for volunteers to fill all sorts of roles! Contact our Volunteer Coordinator for more information at kristi@kid-time.org.

Q. Is there a refund if I can’t attend for some reason?

A. Yes, as long as they are canceled before the day of the event! This means that all refunds must take place BEFORE December 14th!
